The U.S. Census Bureau is a government agency that counts the people in the United States every ten years. The U.S. Constitution says that the government has to count everyone in the country, so the U.S. Census Bureau does this important job for us. The data that is collected helps the government make sure each state has enough representatives in Congress and helps decide how much money the states get from the federal government. The U.S. Census is also used to help plan services like schools and hospitals in different areas.
