ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

UCI Motor-paced World Championships

OK, so you know how sometimes when you're riding your bike really fast, you feel like you're going super fast and it's really cool? Well, imagine if some really strong and fast bikers rode in front of you and helped you go even faster! That's kind of what happens at the UCI Motor-Paced World Championships.

First of all, UCI stands for the Union Cycliste Internationale, which is like the boss group for bike racing all around the world. They organize a bunch of different bike races, including the Motor-Paced World Championships.

Now, the Motor-Paced race is kind of like a regular bike race, but instead of just riding on their own, the bikers ride behind a special motorbike that's going pretty fast. The motorbike has a special thing called a roller, which is a little platform on the back wheel that the biker can pedal against to go even faster. So, the motorbike pulls the biker along behind it, and they both go really, really fast.

At the championships, lots of bike riders from different countries come to compete against each other. They all line up behind the motorbikes, which are controlled by special drivers. The race lasts for a certain amount of time, and the bikers try to go as fast as they can without getting tired or falling off their bikes.

The winner of the Motor-Paced World Championships is the biker who goes the farthest in the set amount of time. It's a really exciting race to watch, because the bikers go SO fast and it's cool to see them drafting and working together with the motorbikes to go even faster.
