Udarnik

Udarnik is a Russian word meaning "worker who works hard and accomplishes a lot in a short period of time." The idea of an Udarnik started in the early 1900s as part of a campaign in the Soviet Union to increase production. The campaign involved setting targets for workers to meet in a certain amount of time, and rewarding those workers who met or exceeded their targets. These workers were called Udarniks, and they got special incentives, such as higher pay and prizes, for their work. Today, the term is still used to refer to someone who works hard and is productive.
