ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Umberto Cassuto

Okay kiddo, Umberto Cassuto was a very smart man who studied the Bible, the book that tells the story of God and his people. He was born a long time ago in Italy and taught at a special university where they studied the Bible in a special way.

Cassuto was very interested in how the Bible was written and wanted to understand the stories better. He even learned ancient languages so he could read the very oldest versions of the Bible.

One of the things he noticed was that some parts of the Bible were written like poetry, with special rhythms and patterns of words. He thought this was important because it helped him understand the hidden meanings of the stories.

Cassuto wrote many books about the Bible and helped people all over the world understand it better. He even wrote a special book called a commentary which explains difficult parts of the Bible in a way that people can understand.

So even though Umberto Cassuto is no longer with us, his work helps us all understand the Bible a little bit better.
