ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Unaccredited institutions of higher education

Okay kiddo, so you know how going to school is important because it helps you learn and get good jobs when you grow up, right? Well, there are some schools that say they can help you do that but they don't follow the same rules as other schools. We call those schools "unaccredited."

Accreditation is like a sticker that proves someone checked the school and made sure it's a good place for kids to learn. They look at things like the teachers, the classrooms, the books, and the tests to make sure the school is doing a good job. If the school passes the check, they get the sticker of approval or "accreditation."

If a school doesn't have that sticker or accreditation, it means nobody has checked if they're doing a good job or not. That doesn't always mean those schools are bad, but it's important for people to be careful and do research before going to them. They might not give you a good education or the classes might not count for anything when you try to get a job later on.

So, it's like buying candy, kiddo. You want to make sure it's good candy before you eat it, right? It's the same with schools. You want to make sure they're good before you spend your time and money there.
