United Nations General Assembly Resolution 3379

Okay, so you know when you go to school and there are a lot of kids in different classes? Well, imagine if all the countries in the world went to a big school together. This is kind of like what the United Nations (UN) is - it's a place where countries come together to talk about important things and try to solve problems.

Back in the year 1975, the United Nations had a meeting of all the countries, called the General Assembly. During this meeting, some countries talked about a group of people called the Jewish people. These people have a religion which is called Judaism, and they have a special homeland called Israel. Some countries said things that were hurtful and untrue about the Jewish people, and they made a resolution called 3379.

A resolution is like a rule or decision that the countries agree on. In this resolution, the countries said that the Jewish people were doing bad things to the Palestinian people, who are a different group of people who also live in the same land. The countries also said that the Jewish people were like racists and that their religion was bad.

This made a lot of people, especially Jewish people and their friends, very upset. They thought that the resolution was unfair and wrong. So, some other countries started to work together to change the resolution.

After some time, the General Assembly met again in 1991, and they talked about the resolution. This time, they decided to cancel it and say that it was wrong. They said that it was not fair to say bad things about a whole group of people just because of their religion or where they lived.

So in the end, the United Nations General Assembly Resolution 3379 was a decision that some countries made a long time ago, saying bad things about the Jewish people. But later on, other countries decided that it was wrong and made a new decision to cancel it.
