ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

United Nations Secretary-General

The United Nations is a big group of countries that work together to solve problems, like making sure everyone is healthy and happy, or making sure no one is hurting each other. The United Nations Secretary-General is kind of like the captain of the team, who helps make sure everyone is doing their job, and that they're all working together nicely.

The Secretary-General is picked by the countries that make up the United Nations to be the boss. They work in a big building in New York City, where they help make sure that all the countries are getting along and that they're trying their best to make the world a better place.

The Secretary-General has a lot of different jobs. They go around and visit different countries to talk to other leaders (like presidents and prime ministers) to see how things are going, and to see if there are any problems that the United Nations can help with. They also have meetings with other people who work at the United Nations, like people who are experts in different topics or who work in different parts of the world.

One very important job that the Secretary-General has is to communicate with the big group of countries that make up the United Nations. They write letters and speeches to tell everyone what the United Nations is doing to help, and to ask for their help too. They also help make sure that everyone knows what's going on with the United Nations, and that everyone is doing their best to work together.

So, in short, the United Nations Secretary-General is the boss of the United Nations, who helps make sure that all the countries are working together to make the world a better place. They visit different countries to talk to other leaders and have meetings with other people who work at the United Nations. They're also in charge of communicating with everyone and making sure that everyone knows what's going on with the United Nations.
