United States and the International Criminal Court

The United States and the International Criminal Court (ICC) are two separate organizations. The ICC is a court located in The Hague, Netherlands that has authority to try people for major international crimes like genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes. This court was founded in 2002, and it is the first permanent international court that can try people for these kinds of crimes. The United States is not a part of the ICC, which means that the court does not have the authority to try people from the US. However, the US supports the ICC and tries to help other countries in the court.
