ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Universal Coded Character Set

Universal coded character set is a set of symbols, letters and numbers that can be used to represent anything from words to punctuation to numbers. It is used to make sure that whatever someone is typing on a computer or sending over the internet looks the same on every computer and device. Think of it like using different language for computers. No matter what computer or device you're using, you can use the same language, or character set, so that all devices can understand what you're typing or sending.
