ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Untranslatability

When people speak different languages, sometimes it is hard to find words that mean the exact same thing in both languages. This is called untranslatability. It's like when you are trying to explain something to your friend but they just don't get it because they don't have the same word in their vocabulary. Some words, phrases or expressions just don't have an equivalent in other languages. This can be because of different ways of thinking or different cultural backgrounds. So even though we all try to understand each other, sometimes we just can't find the right words to do it.
