Urban Search and Rescue is when groups of people, sometimes called first responders, go into an area (usually a city) that has been damaged by a natural disaster, like an earthquake or a hurricane, to help people who might still be trapped inside buildings or homes. First responders use special equipment to search through debris and find people who might have been injured or stuck. They also use special tools to lift and cut through heavy objects, like walls and roofs, to rescue people. The first responders are also there to provide medical help or assistance to people who may be injured or could be in need of supplies like food and water.
