Uses of radioactivity in oil and gas wells

Radioactivity is a kind of energy that some elements give off. Oil and gas wells use radioactivity to detect pockets of oil and gas, so that companies know where to drill for the resources. When the radioactivity hits an oil or gas pocket, the radioactivity is reflected back to special detectors which can "see" the radioactivity. This helps the companies know exactly where the oil and gas are hidden, so they know where to drill.
