Valedictorian

A valedictorian is someone who is the highest achieving student in their graduating class. This person usually has the highest grades, and is generally seen as the smartest student in their class. Schools usually give this student a special honor and recognition during the graduation ceremony. The valedictorian is chosen by the teachers and staff at the school, and it's usually a very exciting moment when they are announced at the end of the school year.
