ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Values scales

Have you ever seen a ruler that helps you measure how long or wide something is? A values scale is kind of like that, but instead of measuring things, it helps you figure out what things are important to you and how much you care about them.

Think about some things that you really like or that are really important to you, like spending time with your family, playing with your favorite toys, or eating your favorite food. Now, imagine putting those things on a scale from 1 to 10, where 1 means that it's not very important to you and 10 means that it's really, really important. That's what a values scale does!

Using a values scale can help you figure out what's most important to you and make decisions about what you want to do in life. For example, if spending time with your family is really important to you and you have the choice to spend time with them or do something else, you might choose to spend time with your family because it's high on your values scale.

Values scales can be different for everyone, just like how some people might think pizza is really important and others might not care about it as much. But no matter what is on your values scale, it can help you make choices that make you happy and fulfilled.
