ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Vantablack

Vantablack is a special type of black color that is so dark it can make things completely invisible. Think of it like having a superpower to make things disappear in the dark!

Some regular black colors can still reflect a little bit of light, but vantablack absorbs almost all light that touches it, making it the blackest of all blacks. It’s like a black hole!

It’s made of very tiny microscopic tube-like structures called carbon nanotubes, which are so small they can only be seen with a special powerful microscope. These nanotubes are arranged in a way that makes it impossible for light to bounce back from them, so the color looks like nothingness.

This color is so special that it’s used for really cool things, like making telescopes, cameras, and even coats that can help people disappear in the dark! It can also be used for architectural designs and sculptures, making them look like they’re floating in space.

In short, vantablack is a magical black color that can make things disappear because it absorbs all the light that touches it.
