ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Variable renewable energy

Variable Renewable Energy (VRE) means energy sources that come from sources like the wind and the sun. This means that the energy from these sources changes depending on the weather conditions - it is not always the same amount. It also means that sometimes there may be long periods of no energy at all, like on a very still, cloudy day. VRE can be used to create electricity for homes and businesses. However, because it changes and sometimes runs out, we need to find ways to store the energy so that it is available when needed.
