Veneration of Mary in the Catholic Church

Dear little one,

The Catholic Church thinks that Mary (Jesus' mother) is super special and deserves a lot of respect and honor. They call this "veneration," which is like giving someone a big hug or saying really nice things about them. People venerate Mary because they think she's important, kind, and good, and they want to be like her.

Lots of Catholics pray to Mary and ask for her help because they believe that she is a very powerful lady who can help them with their problems. They also think that Mary is the perfect example of how to be a good person and follow Jesus. Some people even give gifts to Mary, like flowers or candles, to show how much they love and respect her.

But even though Catholics really like Mary, they don't worship her like they worship God. They only worship God because he is the most important and powerful of all, and they believe that Mary and all the other saints are just helpers who can ask God to help them too.

So in summary, Mary is really important to Catholics, and they treat her with a lot of honor and respect, but they still think that God is number one.
