The owner of the casino, Donald Trump, wanted to buy Vera's house so he could tear it down and build a big parking lot for his casino. But Vera didn't want to sell her house because she had been living there for a long time and had a lot of memories there.
So, Donald Trump tried to use the government's power to take Vera's house away from her. He said he needed it for his business and that it was for the public good.
