Vietnam War resisters in Canada

During the Vietnam War, many people in Canada disagreed with the fighting and decided they didn't want to be a part of it. These people who refused to fight in the war were called "Vietnam War resisters."

Some of these resisters decided to move to Canada while the war was going on, so they wouldn't have to fight. Canada was seen as a safe place for them, because the Canadian government wasn't involved in the war and didn't require its citizens to fight in it.

However, it wasn't easy for these resisters to move to Canada. They had to apply for refugee status and prove that they would be in danger if they had to go back to the United States. Once they were accepted as refugees, they could legally live and work in Canada.

There were many different reasons why people refused to fight in the Vietnam War. Some felt it was morally wrong to kill other people, even if they were considered enemies. Others thought the war was not necessary and didn't want to risk their lives for it.

Overall, the Vietnam War resisters who moved to Canada were looking for a peaceful way to stand up for what they believed in. And many of them found a new home and a supportive community in Canada.
