ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Viili

Viili is a type of Scandinavian yogurt that is made by putting a special type of bacteria called viili culture into milk. This bacteria makes the milk thick like yogurt and gives it a tangy taste.

To make viili, you need to first heat up some milk to a specific temperature, usually around 85°F. Then you add a small amount of viili culture to the milk and stir it all together.

Once everything is mixed together, you put the milk in a special jar with a lid and let it sit at room temperature for several hours. The bacteria will start to grow and thicken the milk, turning it into a creamy, custard-like substance.

After about 24 hours, the viili will be ready to eat. You can scoop it out of the jar with a spoon and enjoy it by itself or mix it with fruit, granola, or honey for added flavor.

One of the great things about viili is that once you've made your first batch, you can use some of it to make more viili. Just take a spoonful of viili from your previous batch and mix it in with some fresh milk, then repeat the steps above. This means that you can keep making viili for as long as you want without having to buy more viili culture.

Overall, viili is a tasty and healthy snack that is easy to make at home with just a few ingredients.
