Virtue signaling

Okay kiddo, have you heard of the word "virtue signaling"? It means when people say or do things to show everyone that they are good, moral or ethical people, even if they may not really feel that way or do those things regularly. It's kind of like when we want to show off our new toy to our friends or that we did something good in school to our parents.

Let's take an example, suppose you see your friend picking up trash from the ground, and you also start picking up trash just because your friend is doing it. This may be because you genuinely want to help clean up the environment or just because you want to show everyone that you care about the environment. The second reason is called virtue signaling.

Another example is when people post about doing something good on social media just to gain likes and appreciation from others, even though they may not have done it for a noble purpose. It's like saying, "Hey everyone, look at how nice I am!" But real kindness comes from within, and we should try to do good things without expecting anything in return or to impress others.

So, in short, virtue signaling means showing off our goodness or morality to others, often for personal gain or social approval, rather than doing something because it's the right thing to do.
