ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Visual acuity

Visual acuity is a fancy way of saying how well you can see things clearly. Think of your eyes like cameras that take pictures of everything you look at. The better your eyes are at taking clear pictures, the better your visual acuity is.

To measure visual acuity, you go to the eye doctor for a check-up. They might ask you to cover one eye and read a chart of letters on the wall. As you read the letters, the doctor will tell you which line you are reading correctly. This helps the doctor see how well you can see from a certain distance.

Sometimes, your visual acuity can be affected by different factors such as age, diseases, and injuries in your eyes. So, to keep your visual acuity in good shape, you should protect your eyes by wearing sunglasses, eating healthy foods, and getting enough sleep.
