Visual literacy

Visual literacy is the ability to understand, interpret and make meaningful connections from information presented in a visual form. It involves reading, writing, listening and thinking skills. Visual literacy skills allow you to notice details in images and make sense of them. It can include understanding of the elements of design like color, shape, texture, line and space. With visual literacy you can understand pictures, videos, artwork and more. It can be used to help you understand the world around you, think critically and communicate with others.
