Vitreography is a fancy word for creating art on sheets of glass. Imagine a big sheet of glass that you can draw, paint, or ink on just like you can on paper. But since it's made of glass, it's a very special kind of art form that requires some special steps.
First, the artist has to prepare the glass by cleaning it really well to make sure there are no fingerprints or dirt on it. Then, they mix together their colors, which are made using glass powder, pigments, and other special materials.
Next, the artist takes their colors and applies them to the glass using special brushes or pens. This can be a little tricky because the glass is very smooth and can be hard to work with.
After the colors are applied, the glass is put into a special oven that heats it up really hot. This is called firing the glass, and it's an important step because it makes the colors fuse together and become one with the glass.
Once the glass is cooled down, the artist can add more colors or designs on top of the first layer. They can repeat the firing process as many times as they want until they get the look they desire.
Finally, the finished piece of vitreography can be framed and put on display for others to enjoy. It might look like a colorful painting, but it's actually made of glass and can shine and sparkle in the light!
