Voith-Schneider

Okay kiddo, have you ever seen a boat with a big propeller on the back? Well, some boats have something called a Voith-Schneider propeller instead!

So, instead of one big propeller, it's actually kind of like a wheel with lots of small propellers all around the outside. This means that the boat can move in any direction - forwards, backwards, sideways, and even rotate in place!

How does it work? Well, the wheel of propellers is mounted on a special mechanism that can turn it in any direction. And each little propeller can spin around on its own too.

This means that the boat can move around like a crab, or even move in a circle without having to turn around. It's a pretty cool invention that helps boats be more maneuverable and useful for things like docking, fishing, and even rescue operations.
