ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Voltage-controlled amplifier

Hey kiddo, have you ever heard of an amplifier? It's like a magic machine that makes sounds louder!

Now, there's a special kind of amplifier called a voltage-controlled amplifier, or VCA for short. It works kinda like a water faucet - when you turn the knob, more water comes out, right?

Well, the VCA does the same thing with sound waves. It has a little knob called a control voltage input, and when you turn that knob, it changes how much sound gets through the amplifier.

So, if the control voltage is really low, only a little bit of sound will get through and come out louder. But if the control voltage is high, lots of sound will get through and come out even louder!

VCAs are really important in music because they allow us to control how loud certain parts of a song are without having to adjust the overall volume. Pretty cool, huh?
