Wales in the Roman era

So, a REALLY long time ago (like, before your great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandparents were even born!), there was a place called Wales. This was during a time when the Romans ruled a lot of the world, including parts of what is now Europe.

The Romans wanted to take over Wales, but the Welsh people lived there first and didn't want that to happen. Even though the Romans had a really strong army, it took them a long time to conquer Wales because the Welsh people were really good at hiding and fighting back.

Eventually, though, the Romans were able to take over Wales and they set up some really cool things there. They built roads so that they could travel easily across the country, and they also set up forts and settlements so that they could have places to live and work.

Some of the Roman settlements that were set up in Wales were really big and important, and they even had things like public baths and markets where people could shop for food and other stuff.

But even though the Romans were in charge in Wales for a while, eventually they left and the Welsh people regained control of their land. Today, Wales is still a really important and special place, with its own language and culture that is different from the rest of the United Kingdom.
