Okay kiddo, so imagine you and your brother are playing an endless game of tag. You both want to be the winner, right? So you keep running and chasing each other until one of you gets tired and gives up.
Now let's make it a little more complicated. Imagine you’re playing tag with a hundred other kids, and the game goes on for an entire day. You are all trying to stay in the game as long as possible, and tag as many kids as you can.
In this huge game, both sides have to keep playing and trying to tag as many people as possible until either one side runs out of players, or one side decides it's not worth it anymore and surrenders.
This is kind of like a war of attrition game. In a war of attrition, two sides are fighting against each other and they try to wear each other down by using up their resources, men, and weapons until one side finally gets tired or runs out of all of these things, and surrenders or loses.
It's like a game of chicken, but with armies, and they both have to keep playing their part in the game until someone decides that the price of winning is higher than the price of losing.
Does that make sense, kiddo?
