War of the Eight Saints
Okay kiddo, let's talk about the War of the Eight Saints. Back in the old days, there were these powerful guys called Popes who ruled over a place called the Papal States. They were like kings, but for a church instead of a country.
Over time, some other powerful guys called kings and emperors started taking control of land that actually belonged to the Popes. The Popes didn't like that very much and wanted to get their land back.
So, the War of the Eight Saints was a big fight between the Popes and these kings and emperors who were trying to take their land. There were eight Popes during this war who all fought to get their land back.
The war lasted for over 20 years and was really messy. Lots of people got hurt and lots of soldiers died. In the end, though, the Popes were able to keep control of their land and they stayed powerful for many years to come.
