Okay kiddo, have you ever seen a movie or played a video game where people fight battles with each other? That's kind of like what wargames are. But instead of just watching or playing it on a screen, wargames are things that people do in real life.
In wargames, people pretend to be in a war or battle. They use little toy soldiers or other small models that look like soldiers, tanks, airplanes, and other cool stuff. They set up their little models on a table or on the floor and use dice and special rules to decide what happens in the battle.
The people who play wargames are called "wargamers." They use their imaginations to create stories about what's happening in the battle. They might pretend they're fighting in a real historical battle, or that they're in a made-up war between two imaginary countries.
Wargaming can be a lot of fun, but it's also serious business for some people. There are tournaments where people compete against each other to see who can win the most battles. Some people spend a lot of money and time collecting and painting little models to use in their games.
So that's wargaming in a nutshell, kid. It's like playing pretend battles, but with toys and rules and lots of imagination.
