Wavefunction collapse is like a game where you try to guess what is inside of a box. The box could have many different things inside, like a toy car or a stuffed animal, and it's up to you to guess what's in the box. Inside the box is something called the wavefunction, which is like a combination of lots of tiny particles that are always wiggling around and changing. When you make a guess of what's inside the box, the wavefunction collapses, which means all the particles suddenly stop wiggling around and they all line up in one big line. That big line tells you what was actually in the box, and then the game is over.
