We are the 99%

Okay kiddo, you know how when you are playing with your friends, sometimes one friend has a lot more toys than everyone else? And sometimes, that friend doesn't want to share their toys with everyone else? That's kind of like what's happening in the world right now.

There are some people who have A LOT more money than most other people. We call these people the "1%". The other people, who don't have as much money, are called the "99%". And the 99% are saying, "Hey, it's not fair that the 1% have so much more than us. We want to be treated equally and have a fair chance to have a good life too!"

The 99% are trying to get the attention of the people in charge, so they can make changes that will help everyone. They want things like good jobs that pay enough to live on, affordable healthcare, and education that doesn't put them in a lot of debt.

So when you hear people saying "we are the 99%", they are talking about all the people who are trying to make things more fair for everyone, not just the really rich people.
