ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Welsh New Zealander

So imagine you are a kid who lives in Wales, which is a country in the United Kingdom. You speak Welsh as your first language and have a Welsh culture. Now imagine there is another kid just like you who lives in New Zealand, which is a country very far away from Wales. This kid has parents who are also from Wales and they speak Welsh at home too.

So when we say "Welsh New Zealander," we mean a person who has Welsh heritage and culture, but was born and lives in New Zealand. They might speak Welsh, celebrate Welsh holidays and traditions, and feel a connection to both Wales and New Zealand.

It's kind of like if your family is Italian, but you were born and raised in America. You still have Italian culture and traditions that you follow, but you also have American culture and traditions that you've grown up with. A Welsh New Zealander is someone who has a similar situation, but with a Welsh background and New Zealand as their home country.
