West India Interest

West India Interest is a fancy term for a group of people who lived in England a long time ago and made money by trading things like sugar, tobacco, and slaves with other countries. The West India Interest group was made up of rich and powerful people who owned plantations in the Caribbean islands and wanted to make sure that they could sell their crops and get good prices for them. They worked together to make sure that the British government made laws that would support their business and help them make more money. Sometimes, they even used their power to convince the government to do things that were not fair to other people, like taking land away from the Native Americans or treating slaves very badly. So, while the West India Interest group helped to make England wealthy, they also did some things that were not very nice to other people.
