White émigré

White émigré (pronounced ee-MIG-ray) are people who left their home country, often because of political reasons, and moved to another country. Think of it like immigrants, but they are immigrants who had no choice because of the political situation in their home country. For example, after the Russian Revolution in 1917, many Russians left Russia and moved to other countries like France, Germany, and the United States.
