ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Whole sky camera

Okay kiddo, do you like taking pictures? Well, a whole sky camera is like a big camera that can take pictures of the whole sky!

See, scientists like to take pictures of the sky at night time to learn more about stars, planets, and other things up there. But, regular cameras can only capture a small piece of the sky at a time, kind of like a small slice of pizza.

A whole sky camera is special because it can take a picture of the entire pizza, all at once! It can capture everything in the sky, from horizon to horizon.

Scientists use these pictures to learn more about the patterns of the stars and planets, how they move across the sky, and how the sky changes over time. Isn't that pretty cool?
