Why Zebras Don't Get Ulcers

Okay kiddo, so you know how sometimes when we get very worried or stressed, our tummies can hurt? Well, this happens because when we worry, our bodies release chemicals that can damage our stomachs and cause ulcers which are like little cuts in our stomachs that hurt.

But, did you know that zebras, despite their dangerous lives, never seem to have tummy troubles like ulcers, even though they are also known to get very worried and stressed?

Scientists think this is because zebras have a very special way of dealing with stress! When they encounter danger, they run away very fast, just like we would if we saw danger, but when danger is over, the zebra stops running and just goes back to grazing and being carefree.

This is different from humans who often keep worrying and being stressed even when danger is gone, producing more of those chemicals that can damage our stomachs.

So, even though zebras may face danger more often than we do, they have a clever way of dealing with stress that keeps their tummies happy and healthy!
