ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Widebeam

Have you ever played with a flashlight and noticed that when you shine the light in one spot, the light only reaches a small portion of the room? That's because the light is narrow, like a pencil beam. But have you ever played with a different flashlight and noticed that the light spreads out more and lights up a bigger area? That's what we call a widebeam.

Widebeam means that the light is spread out over a larger area. Think of it like pouring a bucket of water on the ground. If you pour the water out little by little, it will only cover a small spot. But if you pour the water out all at once, it will spread out and cover a wider area.

This is important in things like flashlights because it means you can light up a bigger area with one light source. So, if you're camping or having a sleepover in a dark room, a widebeam flashlight will make it easier to see everything around you.
