ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Wine label

A wine label is like a happy face on a bottle of grape juice that tells you a lot of information about what's inside. It's like your name tag that tells people who you are and where you come from, but for wine it tells where it comes from and who made it.

On a wine label, you can find the name of the winery, the name of the wine, the year the grapes were picked, and what type of grape was used to make it. You may also see a cute picture that shows where the grapes came from, like a farm or a vineyard. The label can also tell you how strong the wine is, which means how much alcohol is in it.

Just like a storybook, a wine label can tell you a lot of information about the bottle of grape juice you are about to drink and enjoy. So when you see a wine label, try to read it like a story and get to know the wine better!
