ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Wolf–Rayet star

Okay kiddo, so a wolf-rayet star is a really big star up in the sky that shines really bright. But it’s not like the other stars you see. It's special because it's so hot that it glows blue, and it doesn't look like a big yellow ball. Instead, it’s thinner and more spread out.

These stars are really young and they haven't been around very long, but that’s because they use up their fuel really fast. They’re kind of like candles that burn out fast. When they do burn out though, it’s really cool because they explode in a big explosion called a supernova. But don’t worry, we won’t see that happen for a really, really long time.

So, to sum it up, a wolf-rayet star is a special, super hot star that’s really bright and looks different from all the other stars in the sky. It doesn't last very long, but when it does burn out, it goes out with a big boom!
