Women in the United States Coast Guard
Okay kiddo, do you know what the coast guard is? It's like the police, but for the ocean! They make sure everyone is safe out there and that no bad things happen.
Now, did you know that women can be coast guard officers too? That means they can be the ones saving people out on the ocean and helping keep everyone safe.
Sometimes people used to say that women couldn't do that kind of job as well as men. But that's not true! Women are just as strong and smart and brave as men, and they can do anything they set their minds to.
So now, lots of women are officers in the coast guard. They go through training just like the men, and they learn how to drive the boats and helicopters, how to rescue people, and how to protect the ocean.
It doesn't matter if you're a boy or a girl, if you want to be a coast guard officer and help keep people safe, you can do it! And lots of women are already doing it very well.
