ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Wooden language

Wooden language is when people talk in a very formal, stiff way. It's like they are using words that are too long and complicated, or using very polite words that make their sentences sound really boring. It's like using words from a dictionary instead of from how people normally talk. A good example of wooden language is saying "I would be pleased to accept your kind invitation" instead of saying "Yes, I'll go to your party."
