Okay kiddo, have you ever seen a sheep before? They have really fluffy fur on their bodies, and that fluffy fur is called wool. People like to use wool to make things like sweaters, blankets, and hats!
But first, the wool needs to be collected from the sheep. To do that, the farmers give the sheep a haircut! They use special scissors to trim off all the wool, and then they gather it into big balls, like giant cotton candy.
These balls of wool are called "wool bales." They are really big and heavy! Sometimes they weigh over 500 pounds!
The wool bales are sent to places called "wool mills" where they clean the wool and turn it into all sorts of things we use every day. So, the next time you put on a cozy sweater or snuggly blanket, you can thank the fluffy wool bales and the hard-working farmers who made them!
