Wormholes in fiction

A wormhole is something that shows up in a lot of science fiction books and movies. It's like a tunnel that connects two different places in the universe that are far apart. It's like a shortcut for space travel, so you don't have to travel really long distances because the wormhole takes you right to the other place. It's kind of like if you have a really long tunnel and on one end, it's in California and on the other end, it's in India. So you don't have to take a plane to get to India, you just go into the tunnel. That's kind of like how a wormhole works in fiction.
