ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Wrongful dismissal

Hey kiddo, sometimes adults can get in trouble at work and their boss might decide to fire them. But sometimes that decision can be wrong and unfair, like if the boss fired the person just because they didn't like them or because of their age, race, or religion. This is called wrongful dismissal.

It's important to know that there are some rules and laws that protect employees from unfair dismissal. For example, a boss can't fire someone without giving them a good reason or without following the right procedures. If they do, the employee can fight back and try to get their job back or receive compensation for losing their job.

So, if someone is fired and they think it was unfair or wrong, they can talk to a lawyer or a union representative who can help them figure out if they have a case for wrongful dismissal. They might have to go to court to prove that their boss didn't follow the rules and that they deserve to be compensated for the harm done to them.

Overall, wrongful dismissal is when someone is fired unfairly and it's important to know that there are ways to fight back and protect your rights as an employee.
