ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

XMPP

XMPP stands for Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol. It's a type of computer software that lets people send messages to each other, like a text message, or an email. It's also used to tell people when somebody else is available or not, like when you see someone's "online" or "offline" status in a chat program.
