Yaama Ngunna Baaka

"Yaama ngunna baaka" is a phrase in the language of the Baakantji people, who are indigenous to Australia. It means "welcome to our river".

Imagine you are going to visit your friend's house. When you get there, your friend's parents might say "hello" and invite you inside. This is called being welcomed.

Now, think of a big river that flows through the land where the Baakantji people live. This river is very important to them because it provides water for drinking, fishing, and many other things. When people from other places come to visit their land, they want them to feel welcome just like how your friend's parents would welcome you to their home. So, they say "yaama ngunna baaka" which means "welcome to our river".

It's a way of saying that they are happy to share the resources of the river and the land with anyone who comes with good intentions. They want people to feel like they belong and are part of the community, just like you feel like you belong when you are welcomed into your friend's home.
