ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Yom Tov Torah readings

Hi there! So, you know how we have special holidays in our religion, like Rosh Hashanah and Passover? Well, on those holidays we read special parts of the Torah, which is a really important book in our religion.

The Torah is like a big storybook about our history and what we believe in. But for these holidays, we read specific parts that relate to what we are celebrating. For example, on Rosh Hashanah we read about how God created the world and how we should be good to each other.

During these special readings, we also sing special songs and prayers that help us feel more connected to the holiday and our beliefs. It’s like a big family tradition that we do every year to remind us of what’s important.

Does that help explain it? Let me know if you have any more questions!
