ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Young's Literal Translation

Young's Literal Translation is a type of Bible translation that tries to be really, really accurate to the original text that the Bible was written in a long time ago. It's like translating from one language to another, but the people who made Young's Translation tried really hard to make sure every word and every sentence has the exact same meaning in English as it did in the old language.

It's kind of like making a cake, but instead of using the recipe your mom gave you, you use the original recipe from hundreds of years ago. You have to make sure you use the exact same ingredients and the exact same measurements as the original recipe, so that the cake tastes the same as it did back then. Young's Translation is like that, but for the Bible.

Some people really like using Young's Translation because they feel like it helps them understand the Bible better, but other people find it hard to read because it sounds a bit strange and old-fashioned.
