Yuru-chara

Imagine you're at a big party and there are lots of people and things all around you. Suddenly, a big, cute and cuddly animal walks up to you and waves hello! That's a yuru-chara!

Yuru-chara is a Japanese word that means "loose character" or "easygoing character". It's a type of character that represents a place, product or event in Japan. Yuru-charas are usually cute and silly-looking animals, fruits or objects that people can take pictures with, hug or even collect.

These characters are created to make people happy and bring attention to specific things in a fun and non-threatening way. So when you're walking around Japan and see a yuru-chara, you can take a picture with it and show your friends back at home. Yuru-charas remind people to have fun and not take things too seriously!
